Pelvic floor awareness begins with learning to feel and understand your body. Led by Yoga Instructor & Fitness Trainer Mel Gutierrez, this embodied exploration invites you to connect with the pelvis and pelvic floor through breath, touch, visualization, and mindful movement. By becoming familiar with the bony landmarks, soft tissues, and movement patterns of the pelvis, you can begin to develop a deeper awareness of this essential part of your anatomy.

This educational experience explores the relationship between the pelvic floor, breath, pelvic alignment, gravity, and the surrounding body. Through intentional sensing and gentle movement, Mel encourages you to approach the pelvic floor with curiosity rather than mystery or shame, creating space to reclaim a more informed and connected relationship with your body.

Exploring the Pelvic Floor as Part of the Whole Body

The pelvic floor is an integral part of the body’s deep core and works in relationship with the diaphragm, abdominal wall, pelvis, legs, and feet. Learning to notice its movement through breath, touch, and changes in pelvic position can help create a clearer connection between anatomy and embodied experience.

What You’ll Learn

  • Where the pelvic floor is located and how it relates to the pelvic bones
  • How breath, the diaphragm, and pelvic floor movement are connected
  • How touch and anatomical landmarks can help you sense the pelvic floor
  • How pelvic position, gravity, and movement influence pelvic floor awareness
  • How visualization and mindful attention can deepen your connection with the body
