Seated Postures & Breathwork To Boost Confidence

Cultivate confidence, determination, and a stronger sense of inner power with this accessible seated breathwork practice from Grace Magnusson. Designed to help you feel more grounded and connected to your body before a stressful or important situation, this practice combines seated postures, mudras, breathwork, movement, power poses, and affirmations. You’ll explore techniques that can be practiced from a chair, the floor, or a yoga mat, making this a simple confidence-building ritual before a job interview, social gathering, challenging conversation, or any moment when you want to feel more centered and empowered. Through intentional breathing, movement, and self-affirmation, you’ll be invited to connect with your strength and let your confidence shine from the inside out.

Seated Mudra for Determination & Confidence

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position with your feet firmly grounded and your spine upright. You’ll practice a mudra associated with determination, bringing the fists together with the thumbs raised while keeping the shoulders relaxed and creating space through the neck. As you breathe deeply, you’ll use simple affirmations to remind yourself of your ability to persevere, succeed, and move through challenging situations with greater confidence. This grounding posture creates a physical foundation for the practice while helping you turn your attention inward and connect with your sense of personal power.

Breathwork to Activate Inner Power

Continue with seated movement and conscious breathing designed to bring energy and awareness into the body. You’ll explore the “ego eradicator” position from Kundalini yoga before practicing Kapalabhati, also known as skull-polishing breath, using strong, rhythmic exhales through the nose while allowing the inhale to happen naturally. Grace distinguishes this technique from Breath of Fire and encourages you to find a pace that feels appropriate for your body. As you breathe, you’ll focus on the navel and use the rhythm of the practice as an opportunity to release what you no longer need and reconnect with a sense of strength and determination.

Power Poses for Confidence & Presence

The practice then moves into seated power poses that encourage you to embody a feeling of strength and presence. Through opening the arms, lifting the chest, reaching upward, and drawing the hands back toward the center, you’ll explore the physical experience of expanding and gathering your power. You’ll be invited to think about a specific situation where you want to bring more confidence, determination, and personal power, allowing that intention to become part of your practice. These intentional postures offer a simple way to connect physical presence with the mindset you want to carry into the rest of your day.

Solar Plexus Affirmations for Personal Power

Close by bringing your awareness to the solar plexus and using gentle tapping alongside affirmations that reinforce confidence and inner strength. You can choose a phrase that resonates with you, such as “I am strong,” “I am confident,” “I am rooted in power,” or “I am determined,” and repeat it as you breathe. This final practice gives you an opportunity to consciously name the qualities you want to embody and carry them with you beyond the mat. Finish by returning to your breath and posture, taking your sense of power and confidence into whatever comes next.
