Join belly dancer and Expressive Arts Therapist, Shlomit Oren, for this 25 minute mind-body belly dance practice where she guides us in how to explore flexibility in three realms: physical, mental, and spiritual. Designed for anyone seeking greater mobility, reduced pain, injury prevention, and a deeper mind-body connection, this practice helps you increase range of motion, release tension, and enhance the quality of your life. Beyond physical flexibility, you’ll cultivate cognitive flexibility, thinking outside the box, seeing another person’s point of view, and reducing drama, while embracing the Tao’s wisdom of expansion and contraction, reflecting the wisdom of Gaia herself, for greater spiritual resilience and personal growth.

A Mind–Body Practice Rooted in Ancient Tradition

Belly dance, rooted in Middle Eastern and North African traditions, is a celebratory and grounding movement art that honors the natural intelligence of the body, especially the hips and womb space. Traditionally shared in community, it emphasizes fluidity, rhythmic articulation, and a deep connection to breath and embodied awareness. In this practice, you may experience unfamiliar sensations such as focused hip engagement, spinal articulation, or emotional shifts as you explore the ancient rhythm of expansion and contraction inherent within Gaia and all of life.

Benefits of Belly Dance for Flexibility

Belly dance improves hip mobility, spinal flexibility, and overall range of motion while releasing tension and stiffness in the lower back and core. Practicing belly dance movements with rhythmic contraction and expansion enhances circulation, posture, and body awareness, helping you move with greater ease and coordination. In addition to physical benefits, belly dance promotes mental clarity, emotional balance, and resilience, supporting a mindful, flexible, and empowered lifestyle.
