Shake away your stress in this 15-minute belly dance for anxiety relief practice, led by Belly Dancer and Expressive Arts Therapist, Shlomit Oren. This belly dance session gently guides you into the present moment through shaking, grounding, rhythmic hip work, breath, sound, and gentle self-touch. It weaves intuitive dance, body awareness, and moments of stillness to encourage a sense of safety and embodied presence while emphasizing self-compassion and connection with the body and the earth. The practice is accessible and adaptable, making it suitable for people of all movement backgrounds who are open to expressive, mindful movement and who want a structured yet intuitive way to reconnect with themselves through their body.

What is an Embodied Belly Dance Practice?

Belly dance offers an expressive, body-centered way to move that emphasizes rhythm, flow, and connection to the lower body. In this session, movement is guided by sensation rather than choreography, incorporating grounding patterns, soft shaking, breath, vocal expression, and moments of intuitive exploration. The format is open and accessible, allowing participants of all levels to move at their own pace while engaging the hips, torso, and spine in a fluid, organic way. Drawing from the roots of belly dance as a deeply embodied art form, the practice creates a supportive space that can help ease anxiety through mindful movement.

How Does Belly Dance Ease Anxiety?

Belly dance is a somatic, mindful movement practice that combines rhythmic hip patterns, fluid torso movement, gentle vibration, and breathwork to promote body awareness and emotional release. This expressive dance modality supports flexibility, core strength, and full-body coordination while engaging the nervous system and fostering relaxation. Ideal for stress and anxiety relief, belly dance encourages intuitive, non-linear movement, helping participants connect with their body, release tension, and cultivate a sense of grounding and self-compassion.
