This unwinding Stress Somatic Flow with Grace Magnusson, Sound Healer & Yoga Instructor, supports nervous system regulation. This practice will help you release tension, reconnect with your body, and alleviate stress through intuitive movement. Through mindful breathwork and somatic awareness, you learn to attune to what feels right for your body, unwind stored energy at your own pace, and slow down while becoming more present and building a deeper sense of safety and connection within your body. Suitable for all levels, this gentle flow also enhances mobility, restores balance, and helps you feel more grounded and at ease in daily life.
The Practice of Listening to the Body
Coined in 1967 by Thomas Hanna, a philosophy professor and movement theorist, Somatic is used in movement therapy to signify approaches based on the soma, or “the body as perceived from within”.
Somatic flow practices are rooted in the field of somatics, an approach that emphasizes internal body awareness and the mind-body connection, with influences from movement therapy, yoga, and nervous system regulation techniques. Rather than following rigid choreography, you explore intuitive, sensation-led movement to release tension, improve mobility, and support emotional processing. As you move, you may experience warmth, emotional release, or unfamiliar stillness as your body unwinds stored stress and naturally returns toward balance.
Benefits of Somatic Movement for Nervous System Regulation and Embodied Awareness
Somatic movement practices support stress relief by combining breath, gentle movement, and body awareness to regulate the nervous system. Continued practice helps shift the body from stress activation into a more restorative state to release built-up tension. Incorporating regular Somatic movement flow practices strengthen interoception to better notice internal signals like stress or fatigue, creating enhanced emotional balance, resilience, and a deeper sense of embodiment.
