Shaolin Neigong: Qigong Movement for Spinal Health, Flexibility & Vitality

Discover the Healing Power of Shaolin Neigong

Ancient wisdom reminds us that strength is not created through force alone—it is cultivated through mindful movement, balance, and awareness.

In this guided Shaolin Neigong practice, Dr. Judith Ehrman-Shapiro introduces a traditional movement set from the orthopedic school of Qigong that gently strengthens the spine, improves flexibility, enhances posture, and cultivates life-force energy (Qi).

Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and the movement traditions of the Shaolin monks, these subtle yet powerful exercises encourage healthy spinal movement, improve body awareness, and develop strength from the inside out.

Why Practice Shaolin Neigong?

The spine is often described as the central pillar of the body, supporting both movement and energetic flow.

Through gentle spinal articulation, coordinated breathing, and mindful alignment, Shaolin Neigong helps awaken the smaller stabilizing muscles of the back while encouraging greater mobility, balance, and resilience.

Throughout this practice you’ll explore traditional movements including:

  • Empty Coat Sleeves
  • Patting & Slapping (Dao Yin)
  • The Monarch Rises From the Throne
  • Pushing Seven Carts
  • Pulling Nine Oxen by Their Tails
  • The Overlord Holds Up the Tripod

Each movement encourages flexibility while cultivating presence, embodied awareness, and healthy Qi circulation.

At Gaia Goddess, we believe our bodies are designed to move with grace, strength, and harmony.

Shaolin Neigong reminds us that flexibility is not simply physical. It is also emotional, energetic, and spiritual. As we soften unnecessary tension and strengthen the body’s natural alignment, we create space for greater resilience, presence, and healing.

Like the trees that bend with the wind without breaking, we discover that true strength comes through adaptability, balance, and connection to the wisdom of nature.
