Ground into presence with this earth-centered guided Grandmother Cedar meditation and movement practice, created to support grounding, nervous system regulation, and embodied awareness. Led by Tantric Yoga Teacher & PMDD Coach, Amy Sergeant, this gentle, earth-based visualization invites you into an enchanted forest to connect with Grandma Cedar through breath and subtle movement. The practice helps release mental overwhelm, projection, and expectation while strengthening energetic boundaries. Ideal for sensitive beings, healers, and anyone feeling unrooted or disconnected, this practice offers a slow, accessible return to presence, stability, and connection with the earth.

The Roots of Grandma Cedar Tradition

The Indigenous “Grandma” Cedar tradition refers to the profound spiritual, medicinal, and practical reverence many North American Indigenous communities, particularly in the Pacific Northwest and Anishinaabe territories, hold for the Cedar tree, often addressing it as Nookomis (My Grandmother) or the “Tree of Life”. Cedar is considered a sacred entity that offers protection, healing, and essential resources, embodying wisdom and generosity.

How Does This Practice Benefit the Mind and Body?

The Grandmother Cedar movement practice draws on the indigenous tradition where Cedar is not a plant but a living connection and relative, a “grandma” who protects and nurtures.  This grounding practice uses guided visualization, conscious breathing, and gentle movement to help you become present, rooted, and embodied in your body. By connecting with Grandma Cedar and her steady, grounded presence, this practice supports releasing tension, stopping projection and expectations, and accepting reality as it is.
