Learn 3D Breath With Anatomy Knowledge

Learn three-dimensional breathing with Mel Gutierrez through a guided breathwork practice that combines anatomy education, mindful breathing, and body awareness. The parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) is the “rest-and-digest” branch of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), counterbalancing the sympathetic “fight-or-flight” response by supporting functions such as heart rate regulation and digestion while signaling a sense of safety. Your breath is one of the most direct ways to influence this system. Anatomically, a 3D breath helps distribute movement through the diaphragm, ribs, spine, and pelvic floor rather than relying primarily on the chest and neck, supporting a more expansive and grounded breathing pattern.

What Is 3D Breathing?

Three-dimensional breathing is a way of experiencing the breath as a whole-body, multidirectional movement rather than focusing solely on the belly or chest. Mel guides you through the anatomy involved in breathing, including the lungs, rib cage, diaphragm, abdominal wall, organs, and pelvic floor, helping you develop a more complete understanding of how these structures participate in each breath. By combining breathwork with anatomical knowledge and mindful body awareness, you can begin to recognize the physical sensations of inhalation, exhalation, expansion, and relaxation.

Benefits Of Anatomical Breathwork

Anatomical breathwork can help you develop a stronger connection with your body by giving you a tangible way to observe and understand your breathing patterns. This practice encourages curiosity rather than judgment while guiding you to notice areas of tension, soften the abdominal wall, sense movement throughout the body, and reconnect with your physical experience. Practicing this awareness regularly can support mindfulness, grounding, and a greater sense of presence as you become more familiar with your own anatomy and breath.
