Practice Breath of Fire with Rachel Nicks in this active, energizing breathwork session designed to help you reconnect with your power, awaken your energy, and clear mental clutter. Inspired by a technique Rachel learned through her yoga training, this rhythmic breathing practice engages the core and uses repeated, active exhales to create a strong sense of movement and focus. Whether you’re hitting an afternoon slump or simply looking for a dynamic way to shift your energy, this short practice invites you to breathe with intention, have fun with the process, and reconnect with your inner strength.
Learn Breath of Fire Step by Step
Rachel introduces Breath of Fire as an active breathing technique that involves engaging the core while rhythmically exhaling through the nose. You’ll begin with a short set of breaths before taking a pause, gradually building from 10 breaths to 20, 30, 40, and eventually 50 breaths. Throughout the practice, Rachel encourages you to stay grounded through your sit bones, remain connected to your body, and approach the technique without judgment or expectation. Because this is an active breathing practice, she also reminds you to take breaks and regulate the intensity according to how your body feels.
Energize Your Body & Shift Your Energy
Breath of Fire is traditionally practiced as an invigorating form of yoga breathwork, and Rachel uses the imagery of fire to connect the practice with qualities of power, warmth, life force, and energy. The increasingly rhythmic breath gives the practice an active quality that can help you move out of a sluggish or low-energy state and into a more awake, engaged experience. If you find yourself reaching an afternoon energy slump, this practice offers a dynamic alternative to simply pushing through, giving you a dedicated moment to reconnect with your breath and body.
