Release Tension & Find Greater Ease with Yin Yoga

Do you find it difficult to slow down, sit with discomfort, or give yourself permission to simply be? In this Yin Yoga practice, Yoga Instructor Arianna Bickle guides you through a slow, still practice designed to help you turn inward, work with the breath, and explore physical sensations with patience and compassion. Through longer-held poses, mindful breathing, and opportunities to soften and let go, you’ll learn to listen to your body and create space for greater ease.

Making Space for Stillness

Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that incorporates longer-held postures and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The practice applies moderate stress to the connective tissues, including the fascia, tendons, and ligaments, while creating space to explore stillness, inner awareness, circulation, and flexibility. Rather than forcing or pushing toward a deeper expression, Yin invites you to ease into each pose, work with sensation and breath, and allow the body to gradually soften.

What You’ll Learn

  • The foundations of Yin Yoga and its slow, still approach
  • How to use the breath as your guide through longer-held poses
  • How to notice where sensations feel intense, sticky, or uncomfortable
  • How to ease into poses rather than yank, pull, or push
  • How to bring patience and compassion to your practice
  • How to use blocks, blankets, and other support to adjust poses
  • How to listen to your body and honor what it needs
  • How Yin Yoga creates space to soften tension in the body and mind
  • How stillness and longer-held poses create an opportunity to turn inward

Exploring the Benefits of Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga offers a complementary approach to more active forms of movement, creating an opportunity to balance effort with rest and activity with quiet. Its longer-held postures are intended to work with the body’s connective tissues while supporting flexibility and circulation. The practice can also cultivate a deeper sense of inner awareness and provide space to reconnect with the quieter, more meditative aspects of yoga.

  • Supports flexibility through longer-held postures
  • Encourages circulation around the joints
  • Provides a balance to more active, Yang-oriented practices
  • Supports a deeper, more meditative yoga experience
  • Creates space for inner awareness and reflection
  • Encourages balance between effort and rest
  • Offers a complementary practice for an active yoga or movement routine
