Release tension and reconnect with your body with this quick and accessible seated stretch and breathing practice led by Arianna Bickle. Designed for those moments when your body feels stiff or “crunchy” after sitting for a long time, this gentle body reset can be practiced at your desk, on a plane, or as a passenger during a long road trip. You’ll move through simple seated stretches, spinal movements, shoulder rolls, neck and upper-body stretches, side bends, and mindful breathing to help bring movement back into areas that may feel tight from prolonged sitting. With an emphasis on easy, natural breathing and gentle movement, this practice offers a simple way to pause, release physical tension, and reset after a long day.
Benefits of Seated Stretching and Breathwork
Long periods of sitting can leave the neck, shoulders, back, hips, and chest feeling stiff and restricted. Gentle seated movement combined with conscious breathing can help you reconnect with your body and create a moment of relaxation during a busy day. This practice includes seated cat-cow movements, shoulder mobility, neck stretches, chest opening, arm stretches, and side bends, ending with slow, grounding breaths to help you settle and notice how your body feels.
A Quick Body Reset Anywhere
You don’t need a yoga mat or a dedicated workout space to practice this routine. The movements are designed to be performed while seated, making them easy to incorporate into a workday, travel day, or evening wind-down. Whether you’ve been sitting at a desk, traveling on an airplane, or simply need a few minutes to release tension, this short practice gives you an accessible opportunity to move, stretch, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
